"If you're considering State Farm for your insurance, I would strongly advise you to avoid Scott Case as your agent. In fact, I would recommend exploring other insurance companies altogether, though the decision is ultimately yours. Let me explain why. I was involved in a minor fender bender where only my car was damaged, and it was so minor that I initially planned to pay for the repairs out of pocket. However, my friends and family encouraged me to use my insurance, explaining that this is what accident forgiveness is for, especially since I hadn’t had an accident in over 25 years. I decided to call and ask about it. I spoke with a representative at Scott Case's office, and she assured me that I had accident forgiveness. Based on this information, I decided to move forward with filing a claim. A few days later, I received a call from State Farm’s claims department, informing me that my rates would likely increase due to the claim. When I explained what I was told at Scott Case’s office, the representative informed me that State Farm does not offer accident forgiveness. I called Scott Case directly to discuss the situation and express my frustration. He asked why I would listen to my family...It seemed like he was going to say more but stopped short. He apologized for the confusion and explained that the representative at his office was new and still learning. He then clarified that, to his knowledge, State Farm has never had accident forgiveness. He further explained that no reputable insurance company would offer such a policy because it could lead to bankruptcy. He backpedaled slightly, stating that he wasn’t sure about the policies of other insurers, but such a policy wouldn’t be in anyone’s best interest. A few days later, I called again to ask how much my premium would increase for the next six months. I was told it wouldn’t be much. When the bill arrived, the increase was modest, and despite my frustration, I accepted it and moved on. However, when I received the following six-month bill, my premium had increased by about $500. I called Scott Case's office to inquire and was told that I was now considered a high-risk driver and that they couldn’t bring my rates back to what they were before. At this point, I switched to a well-known, reputable insurance company that not only offers accident forgiveness but also has rates much closer to what I was originally paying. Not only was I misinformed, but I got the impression that State Farm, particularly Scott Case’s agency, doesn’t prioritize its customers. If you still choose to go with State Farm, that’s your decision. However, I would strongly recommend steering clear of Scott Case’s State Farm agency."
